Kate Woodford has spent the last 15 years learning and growing as a bilingual educator.  After completing her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education at Wheelock college in Boston, she worked for 3 years as a bilingual 2nd grade teacher in Lima, Perú at Colegio Altair.  She moved back to Madison, her home town, and began working as a 1st grade dual language immersion teacher in MMSD and studying for her masters degree in bilingual education at Edgewood College, which she completed in 2017.  She has 2 WI DPI teaching licenses in Early Childhood Ed. and Bilingual Education.

Assistant Teacher

Zelisth Ruiz has been caring for and raising children for the past 15 years.  She has 3 children of her own and cared for children in her home when her own children were young.  During this time she studied Early Childhood Education at Madison College and later used her bilingualism with children in other ways.  She worked for a number of years teaching Spanish to school aged children as an extracurricular and to home schooled students and is excited to work with young children again here at El Mundo de Niños!

Substitue Teacher

Walquer Rojas is Kate’s Husband and an integral part of El Mundo de Niños.  Walquer is a familiar face to all the children because he sees them daily and periodically works for a few hours or a whole day as a substitute.  Walquer is a Special Education Assistant at Midvale School and has worked with children and adolescents as a social worker, mentor, and teacher for the past 20 years.
